Egg Drops / Consistency
If you’ve seen our “Egg Drops”, or “Thumbprints” from anyone, then you’ve seen two popular consistencies of rosin.
The outer ring is badder. We strive for a soft texture and lighter color with our badder. It gets whipped post squish to bring the texture out, but that’s the entire post process. Rosin badder definitely varies from strain to strain and extractor to extractor, but this is what you should expect from us with 95% of our jars.
Back to Egg Drops - The inner dollop of rosin is jam. Jam undergoes a slow heat treatment post squish. When we jam rosin, we’re looking to bring our terps and create a softer consistency. The low and slow heat can bring out more subtle flavors, but has to be watched very carefully. Taking it too far creates a product too liquid for dabbing. One of our strains that jams very well is the Strawberry Banana. Jam usually has a slightly clear/glass like appearance. This is a pretty clear indicator that rosin underwent a heat treatment, which we don’t think is bad. We really only produce limited amounts of jam for Egg Drops, as most of our strains aren’t drastically improved with the heat treatment.
However, there’s something about that two consistency jar that’s exciting.
